****EDIT Thank you for all the comments on this, I'm quite relieved that Heath still has his chance as the Joker in he upcoming Batman flick. If any of you would like to do something in memorial of him, please feel free to by drawing him (or his style) of Joker, or even a collage of his characters if you would like. I'm sure you have all heard the sad news already, but yesterday afternoon, Heath Ledger (man to pla Joker in The Dark Knight, also found on a Knights Tale, 10 Things I Hate About You, and Brokeback Mountain (among others)) was found dead in his Manhattan apartment from an inconclusive cause. :( I was quite sad when I had heard this, just moments after it was placed on the net. He was an amazing actor, with many well loved characters. Which brings me to this question....

Does anyone know the process of The Dark Knight? I'm hoping it is completely finished and no longer in production, it would be a shame for Heath to have lost his spot in one of his final films.

Yeah, they finished Dark Knight a while back. He was already shooting another film.

He was one of my favorite actors, and Joker *is* my favorite character. And he had a kid. and was only 28. I'm so sad.

They finished all scenes with Heath, sad thing, it was to be the performance of his career. already so many are praising his work based on the trailers alone. And now that he's gone, the third batman film is now in deep trouble as Joker is revealed to be an integral part of the plan, I don't know whether they'll write the character off or recast. But the main thing is, Heath's gone, and he was a talented actor and great guy. Rest in peace man.

I think that they are likely to recast for the movies following The Dark Knight, but yes, they finished filming last Novemer I heard. I am so upet about Heath's death, he was an amazing actor, and it really did make me cry to hear about it. Joker is my favourite character of all time, and it saddens me greatly that his actor passed away. =(

yes, it is a terrible thing, they are not sure about the how yet, but apparently the drug thing is not so much a theory anymore, but they are not tossing it out. THank you for the information!
